COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION

Two main points to implement Community Participation:

• Develop and Implement an Extension Program, involving local Communities.

• Organise regular exchange meetings and workshops.

The 94/01 Law to lay down Forestry and Fisheries Regulations in Cameroon Institutionalised Community Participation in the Management of Natural Resources.

There is a real political move towards enhancing the interest of Communities in the Management of Natural Resources.

Our process is a radical departure from traditional management. We are very much ‘hands on’ and believe in participation of everyone from the top to the bottom, from the least minority group to the most politically powerful. As such our members sometimes have to work in a spontaneous and unconventional way and this takes real commitment from Communities.
